As part of Workgroup 6 of the CCVAW Task Force, this project focused on understanding how domestic violence survivors access and navigate government services within the court system.

The primary focus was on civil court, complemented by a high-level exploration of experiences in criminal and domestic relations courts to build a more holistic view.

The project also compared service offerings across two courthouses in different regions of Chicagoland, Skokie in the north and Markham in the south to uncover variations in access and support.

Using a human-centered design approach, the work involved mapping survivor journeys, identifying service gaps, and highlighting opportunities for more responsive and equitable interventions. This is an ongoing project and final artifacts will be delivered June 2026.
